After a successful career in college, which included awards such as the 2004 SEC Freshman of the year, the 2004 and 2005 All-SEC and All-American, Simpson was drafted to the Bills as the team's fourth round pick in the 2006 NFL draft. As a rookie in the NFL, he was able to attain one sack, 77 tackles, and an interception. He was however, was placed on injured reserve after the first game of the 2007-2008 campaign with an ankle injury.
