Reviews
"As the working class Cinderella, Ginger Rogers gives a strong dramatic performance in one of the era's better women's pictures; subplot of pregnancy was controversial at the time."—Emanuel Levy, EmanuelLevy.comhttp://www.emanuellevy.com/search/details.cfm?id=7996
"Overly melodramatic, the film has aged rather poorly (despite Rogers' Oscar-winning performance) and seems rather un-feminist today."—Christopher Null, Filmcritic.comhttp://www.filmcritic.com/misc/emporium.nsf/84dbbfa4d710144986256c290016f76e/fa46332c03c74629082571150070e84f
