Kirk Hinrich is a point guard for the Chicago Bulls of the NBA. He is also a member of the United States men's national basketball team and was coached by his father from third grade through high school.
On November 8, 2008, the Chicago Bulls reported that Hinrich will need surgery on his right thumb and will miss up three months of the NBA season. Hinrich tore a ligament in his thumb during a game against the Phoenix Suns on November 7, 2008. Kirk Hinrich (2009 - 2010 Season)
Kirk Hinrich was a member of the Chicago Bulls during the 2009-2010 season. Hinrich played the guard position and averaged 10.9 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per contest in 74 games during the 2009-2010 campaign. Hinrich would appear in all five of the Bulls’ playoff games where his averages were 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4 assists per contest. Hinrich is not a flashy player but he is a decent defender and is capable of stretching an opposing defense when he’s hitting from the outside.
Playing Career
Hinrich originally planned to attend Iowa State University, but he switched to play at Kansas after coach Tim Floyd left Iowa State to coach the Chicago Bulls. Hinrich made it to the Final Four with Kansas in 2002. Kansas would lose to Syracuse and Carmelo Anthony in the championship game that year. Hinrich played all four years at Kansas before being drafted by the Bulls with the 7th overall pick in 2003. His nickname is "Captain Kirk" due to the fact that he has been voted Bulls team captain for numerous consecutive seasons.
