It is a game available for the PSP that is being developed by Square Enix. They are also publishing the game.
This prequel focuses on three characters that the player will be able to control all three equally. They are called Terra, Ven and Aqua. These three characters bear a striking resemblance to the original treo in name; Riku, Sora and Kairi. Birth by Sleep is a prequel takes place 10 years before the original Kingdom Hearts explaining many unexplained plot elements such as why Sora got the keyblade in the first place (speculation).
The release date is December 2009 for Japan with other territories to come a few months later.
