The King of the Ring is a professional wrestling singles tournament held by World Wrestling Entertainment.

The first King of the Ring tournament was held in 1985, but it did not become a regularly televised event until 1993.The tournament featured eight wrestlers who qualified for it by winning matches on regular WWE programming. The King of the Ring remained an annual pay-per-view until 2002.
It has since made sporadic appearances, once in 2006 on SmackDown! featuring SmackDown!-exclusive wrestlers.
The most recent incarnation of the King of the Ring took place in 2008 on WWE Raw. This time, wrestlers from all brands (Raw, SmackDown! and ECW) were able to participate.
