King of the Ring is a professional wrestling singles tournament held by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). The tournament was first held in 1985, but did not become its own pay-per-view show until 1993. The annual pay-per-view was held until 2002 before a four year absence, returning in 2006 as a Smackdown exclusive. The tournament was again absent in 2007. The 2008 edition will be a single night tournament on the April 21 edition of WWE Raw and will feature superstars from all WWE brands.
