Kimbo Slice is a street fighter who is now trying his hand at mixed martial arts in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He got his start as an underground boxer who has appeared in several fight videos online.
Kimbo Slice is one of sixteen fighters in the line up on The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights, the tenth season of the UFC hit on Spike TV.
Early Career
Kimbo Slice first gained attention as a street brawler. Many of his fights were videotaped and broadcast over the Internet. His most notable fight was in 2004 against former police officer Sean Gannon. Gannon defeated Slice amid controversy for being accused of using illegal moves. The popularity of the video led to Gannon fighting for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Slice had his first sanctioned fight in 2007 against Ray Mercer. He defeated Mercer with a choke hold in the first round. After the fight, Slice issued a challenge to Tank Abbott, who was in the audience. Abbott accepted the challenge and the two fought on February 16, 2008. Kimbo Slice won the fight by knockout in the first round.
