  • Civilian police officer Sgt. Kimberly Munley is credited with shooting Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the army psychiatrist who opened fire at Fort Hood on November 5, 2009. Hasan shot and killed 13 people and left 31 others injured. Sgt. Munley, age 34, was also shot during the gunman's rampage but she managed to shoot Hasan four times.     Sgt. Munley worked as a police officer in Wrightsville Beach, California, before she moved to Texas and joined the Fort Hood civilian police force.
