  • In 1979, Kim Nees was brutally beat and murdered. In January of 1983 Barry Beach confessed to law enforcement that he killed Nees. He was later convicted and sentenced to 100 years in prison.

Throughout his first 25 years of incarceration his family and friends have maintained that he did not murder Nees and that it was a group of rival girls. They claim that there is evidence to back that statement up. Beach's defense team maintains that he was coerced into confession but former Montana Attorney General Mike McGrath has stated that Beach knew too many details of the case that were accurate.

Beach was denied a new trial on March 31, 2008 and has exhausted all of his appeals.
