  • Brief Biography

Married to Don Mattingly since 1978, Kim Mattingly (formerly Kimberly Sexton) experienced life as a baseball player's wife throughout the slugger's fifteen-year career. After Mattingly's retirement at the end of the 1995 season, when the hitter played in his first postseason in his long career as a Yankee, Kimberly urged her husband to keep playing another season, and even admitted being angry at him for not training harder. However, despite putting up excellent numbers in the 1995 American League Division Series against the Seattle Mariners, Mattingly did not rejoin the team in 1996, the first year the Yankees would win the World Series since 1978.
  • Arrest

In 2007, Mattingly signed on as the hitting coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers, following Joe Torre to the organization. Before the 2008 season was set to begin, however, Kim Mattingly was arrested for public intoxication outside the hitter's Evansville home and it was revealed that the couple was estranged and going through divorce proceedings. Don Mattingly, subsequently, asked for a temporary demotion to "Special Assignment Coach" so that he could spend more time with his family in Evansville, and specifically, his still high school age son Jordon.
