  • Career Highlights

    Kim Clijsters first turned pro in 1997 at the ITF Circuit in Belgium. She made her Grand Slam debut in 1999 playing at Wimbledon and nearly beat Serena Williams at the U.S. Open that year. By 2003, Clijsters had won 90 matches and nine titles, finishing second in the world. Later that year, she spent twelve weeks at number one.

    Clijsters was forced to withdraw from competitions in 2004 and part of 2005 due to a left wrist injury, but by 2006 played another five tournaments and retired the following year with a number four ranking.Sony Ericsson WTA Tour: Kim Clijsters
