"Killer" Kowalski was a retired Canadian professional wrestler and trainer.
"Killer"
Kowalski got his "Killer" nickname after kicking off an opponent's ear during a match in 1954. The injury was accidental: Kowalski's opponent, Yukon Eric, had "cauliflower (swollen) ears," so when Kowalski's shin hit Eric's head, his ear fell and rolled in the ring.Esquire: What I've Learned: Killer Kowalski (August 3, 2007)
The referee put the ear in his pocket, then raised Kowalski's arm in victory. Fans called Kowalski "Killer" ever since.
