  • Kilimanjaro is the tallest, free standing mountain in the world. Located in Tanzania, it is what is called a Stratovolcano. It has three volcanic peaks, Kibo, Mawensi, and Shira. Kilimanjaro National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are at least 7 sanctioned routes to the summit. The youngest person on record to reach the summit was a 12 year old American boy by the name of Ryan J. Eckert. Uhuru Peak on Kimbo is the highest point on the mountain at 5,895 metres (19,341 ft), it is also the highest peak on the African continent.
