Khalid ibn al-Walid

Khalid ibn al-Walid was an Islamic general during the 7th century. He defeated Muhammad and his army at the Battle of Uhud. Khalid later converted to Islam, however, and helped to win Muslim control over most of the Middle East.MSN Encarta: Khalid ibn al-Walid

The Battle of Uhud was fought between the Quraish tribe (including Khalid ibn al-Walid) against the Muslim army in March of 625. The Quraish fled and the Muslims, against orders, began to loot their enemy's camp.
