On March 21, 2007, Whitrick logged onto the website PalTalk and joined a special chatroom where people go to insult one another. He told people in the chatroom that he was planning on killing himself. Some of the chatters goaded him on while others attempted to talk him out of it. After he hung himself on camera, chatters in the room said they didn't believe the suicide was real. Police arrived at his flat too late to save him. This is London: Chatroom users 'egged on father to kill himself live on webcam' (March 24, 2007)
