NHL Career
Weekes was drafted 41st overall in the 1993 NHL draft by the Florida Panthers. He continued to play in the minors for several years after the draft, playing in the Ontario Hockey League, American Hockey League and International Hockey League. Weekes made his NHL debut in 1997 with the Panthers, playing 11 NHL games. On January 17, 1999, he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks. His stay in Vancouver was short-lived as he was sent to the New York Islanders on December 19, 1999. Just six months later, Weekes was traded again, going to the Tampa Bay Lightning on June 24, 2000. He played with the Lightning for nearly two seasons before he was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes on March 5, 2002. He completed the 2003-04 season with the Hurricanes, then entered free agency and signed with the New York Rangers. On July 5, 2007, Weekes signed as a free agent with the New Jersey Devils, where he serves as a backup for veteran goaltender Martin Brodeur.
