  • Kevin Slowey is a Major League Baseball player currently pitching for the Minnesota Twins. Slowey won an academic scholarship to Winthrop University with a score of 1420 on his SAT. Slowey joined Winthrop Universities baseball team during the three years he was there. 2005 was a big year for Slowey. Baseball America named Slowey third-team All-American and was selected as the 73rd pick in the second round by the Minnesota Twins during the MLB Draft. Failing to make the team out of spring training, Slowey was sent to AAA Rochester Red Wings. On June 1, 2007, Slowey made his Major League debut. After another brief stint with the minors, Slowey is now in the rotation lineup. Recently Slowey suffered a strained right bicep.

    Pitching A low 90's fastball is considered to be Slowey's best pitch, but he is known as a controlled pitcher. Slowey has a great change up with a slurvy breaking ball. Slowey is often compared to Minnesota Twins pitcher Brad Radke, as they both have control of the strike zone.
