Substance Abuse
In March of 2004, Grubb signed with Team Reno Motorsports, but never actually drove for the team as he failed a substance abuse test. He was indefinitely suspended by NASCAR, ordered to undergo counseling and random drug screenings. After completing the required steps, Grubb returned to the track in June of 2006, competing in five Nationwide Series races. After a crash at a September 2006 race in Richmond, Grubb refused to take a drug test, a violation of the terms of his reinstatement. He was again suspended indefinitely and did not race after that date.ESPN.com: Grubb, 31, Found Dead at HotelNotable Finishes
