2007 Neck Injury
On September 9, 2007, Everett was seriously injured while attempting to tackle Domenik Hixon of the Denver Broncos. While attempting the tackle, Everett sustained a catastrophic neck injury and was transported off the field. Following a lengthy surgery, doctors announced that Everett had sustained a spinal chord injury resulting in likely permanent damage. A few days after the injury, Everett regained some movement in his arms and legs, and doctors took a more optimistic outlook towards Everett's recovery. Within a month of the injury, doctors were optimistic that Everett would make a full recovery, but noted that he would never play professional football again.
