The advantage to a kettlebell is that it provides an effective and comfortable grip, with the weight uniquely focused toward the floor, which encourages the use of different muscles that a traditional dumbbell doesn't address. There are also competitions utilizing the effective lifting of a kettlebell such as the "One Kettlebell Snatch and the "Two Kettlebell Jerk".
