WCCW Career
Nicknamed "The Modern Day Warrior," Kerry Von Erich and his brothers enjoyed enormous fame and success in World Class Championship Wrestling in the mid- to late-1980s. In 1984, he defeated Ric Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in front of a sold out Texas Stadium.
WWE Career
Despite getting his right foot amputated following a 1986 motorcycle accident, Von Erich was able to keep wrestling, debuting in the WWE as the "Texas Tornado" in 1990. Von Erich won the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Curt Hennig within a month of his debut, but dropped the title to Hennig later that year.
Von Erich left WWE after remaining mid-card level for two years, never receiving another push or title run.
Suicide
Plagued by drug problems in his later years, Von Erich fatally shot himself at his father's ranch on February 18, 1993 after being indicted on cocaine possession. He was 33.
