Kenyon Martin is a power forward currently playing for the NBA's Denver Nuggets.
The NBA is investigating a report in The Denver Post that stated Martin's mother, Lydia Moore, was confronted by Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban after a May 9, 2009, game, with Cuban calling the Nuggets "thugs." Fouls and Fines
In April of 2009, Martin fouled Spencer Hawes of the Sacramento Kings, causing Hawes' knee to swell. After the game, Martin apologized to Hawes, but Kings owner Joe Maloof felt Martin owed the team, including the owners, an apology. Early Life
Kenyon Lee Martin was born in Saginaw, Michigan. He would attend Bryan Adams High School in Dallas, Texas, and then the University of Cincinnati. In 2000, he would receive several honors for his excellent play including the Oscar Robertson Trophy, the Naismith College Player of the Year Award and the John R. Wooden Award.
Pro Career
Martin would be selected with the first overall pick in the 2000 NBA draft by the New Jersey Nets. In his first season with the Nets he would be named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. In the next two years, with Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson,he would lead the team to two straight NBA Finals, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers and then the San Antonio Spurs. He was also named to the NBA Eastern Conference All-Star Team in 2003-2004 season. In 2004, he was traded to the Denver Nuggets, in a sign and trade deal for three 1st round draft picks. His stay in Denver has been marred in controversy with fans, his coaches and marked with extended stays on the disabled list.
