  • February 28, 2008: Kofi Annan announced that Party of National Unity President Mwai Kibaki and Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga have agreed to form a coalition government. The power-sharing deal between the two political rivals was expected to quiet riots that broke out following the disputed 2007 presidential elections.
  • Cabinet Criticisms

    Although the agreement put an end to violence that claimed between 1000-1500 lives, critics of the new Coalition Cabinet claim that it is too large and expensive to efficiently serve the public interest.
