  • Long known for their successful men's basketball program, the University of Kentucky football program plays in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference. The Wildcats have won two SEC championships, including the 1950 season under head coach Paul "Bear" Bryant and in 1976 under Fran Curci. The team plays their home games at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington.

    Although the football team has not achieved the same amount of consistent winning that the basketball team has accomplished, they still have had many great players that came through the program. Some of those players include George Blanda, Frank LeMaster, Jeff Van Note, Tim Couch, Art Still, Babe Parilli, Irv Goode, Mark Higgs, Dermontti Dawson and Doug Kotar. Current coach Rich Brooks has led the team to back-to-back bowl appearances, led by quarterback Andre Woodson.
