Kent State Shootings
On May 4, 1970, four students were killed and nine students wounded when they were fired upon by the Ohio National Guard, who were trying to break up a protest by students, who were assembled to protest the American invasion of Cambodia. The students killed were Allison Krause, William Knox Schroeder, Sandra Lee Scheuer and Jeffrey Glen Miller. The guardsmen claimed to have fired in self defense.
