  • Kenny Rogers is a country music singer, songwriter and actor who has had more than 70 hit singles throughout his career.
  • Career

    His career began as a member of the doo-wop group The Scholars in the late 1950s. They disbanded after and the lead singer began a solo career, and Rogers went on to sing with the jazz group The Bobby Doyle Trio. After they disbanded, he joined The First Edition and his career skyrocketed. Top Billboard hits included "Somethings Burnin," "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town," "Reuben James" and "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)."

    The group disbanded in 1976, and Rogers began his solo career after signing with United Artists Records. One year later he enjoyed his first solo number one billboard smash hit with the song "Lucille". Rogers had since made his way to the number one place on the charts with hits including "Daytime Friends," "The Gambler", "Coward of the County" and many, many, more. His most recent number one song was "Buy Me a Rose" in 1999.
