A prolific American character actor, Kene Holliday made a name for himself in the role of Tyler Hudson, Andy Griffith's original private investigator, on the television series Matlock. In addition to his acting Holliday writes poetry and published a collection of his poems entitled The Book of K-III: The Contemporary Poetics of Kene Holliday. In the 2007 Holliday appeared in the independent film Great World of Sound. His performance earned him Gotham and Independent Spirit Award nominations for Best Supporting Male.
