  • Early Life

    Kendrys Morales Rodriguez was born in Fomento, Cuba on June 20, 1983. Morales played baseball in Cuba and for the Cuban National Team. After several failed attempts to get into the MLB, Morales was banned from the Cuban leagues. On June 8, 2004, Morales defected from Cuba and established his residency in the Dominican Republic.

    On April 7, 2005, he signed with the Angels to a reported six year $3 million contract, and was sent to the Angels' minor league affiliates.MLB.com: Kendry Morales

  • Pro Career

    Morales was called up to make his MLB debut with the Angels on May 23, 2006. He played a total of 57 games his rookie year, driving in 22 runs batted in and hitting 5 home runs in 197 at-bats.

    He returned to the Angels for part of the 2007 season playing 43 major league games including joining them in their short playoff run. Morales played in the American League Divisional Series, losing to the eventual World Series Champion Boston Red Sox.
