Keith Tkachuk is an American ice hockey player. He currently plays for the St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League.
Early Years
Tkachuk was originally drafted out of Boston University 19th overall in the 1990 NHL Draft by the Winnipeg Jets. He made his NHL debut the following year, playing 17 games with the Jets. Tkachuk was then named team captain in 1993, in just his third season in the league. He stayed with the franchise as they relocated and became the Phoenix Coyotes in 1996.
Recent Years
Late in the 2000–01 season, Tkachuk was traded to the St. Louis Blues. The following year he represented the United States in the 2002 Winter Olympics, bringing home a silver medal. He also played in the 1992, 1998 and 2006 Olympics, however the team did not place in any of those efforts. Tkachuk was traded again on February 25, 2007, to the Atlanta Thrashers. Following the season he entered the free agency and signed a two year contract with the Blues, worth a reported $8 million.
