American professional hockey player Keith Ballard plays for the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League.
NHL Career
Ballard was drafted 11th overall in the 2002 NHL draft by the Buffalo Sabres. He did not join the NHL right away, but played two additional seasons at the University of Minnesota. On July 3, 2003, Ballard was traded to the Colorado Avalanche. Still in college, he was traded again, to the Phoenix Coyotes on March 9, 2004. Ballard played for the Utah Grizzlies in the American Hockey League during the 2004-05 NHL lockout before joining the Coyotes for his NHL debut in 2005.
