  • The Band Called Keane

Keane was generally considered a piano-centric three piece rock band from Battle, England. Keane's music from the albums Hopes & Fears (2004) and Under the Iron Sea (2006) is notable for the absence of guitars, a rarity in most popular rock music. Instead, they used a variety of keyboard sounds in their songs. For their latest album Perfect Symmetry (2008), they incorporated guitars and, again, a new sound was created.

  • Career

After self-releasing a few singles, the band signed to Island Records and released their debut, Hopes and Fears, in 2004. Under the Iron Sea followed in 2006. Their debut went gold in the United States, but Keane has seen more success in their native England, where several singles have cracked the top 10. They received 2 BRIT Awards for their first album.
