KBR Inc

KBR, Inc., a former subsidiary of Haliburton, is an American constructional engineering firm which had been contracted by the U.S. military several times, most notably during the Iraq War.

In April 2009, civil lawsuits were filed by nearly 20 ex-military personnel, military families and contractors in three states, against KBR for allegedly exposing U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Iraq to toxic smoke caused by the disposal of waste. At least two deaths are thought to be directly related to exposure to the toxic smoke. KBR denies any intention to knowingly injure U.S. troops.CNN: Halliburton, KBR sued for alleged ill effects of 'burn pits'

Burn Pits

While deposing of waste material during the Iraq War, KBR allegedly engaged in practices which caused the death of at least two former military men and severe health issues for others. Soldiers who lived in close proximity of the burn pits often experienced severe chest pain, diarrhea, asthma, sleep apnea and debilitating migraine headaches after toxic smoke drifted across their living quarters. The health issues caused by the pits are even thought to have led to the death of several soldiers.CNN: Halliburton, KBR sued for alleged ill effects of 'burn pits'
