Kazumi Miura was shot twice in the head in a Los Angeles parking lot in November of 1981. Her husband was shot in the leg. She died of her wounds a year later in a hospital in Japan. Her husband was accused of signaling attackers to shoot at the couple, and was acquitted of her murder in a Japanese court.
