Kazumi Miura was shot twice in the head in a Los Angeles parking lot in November of 1981. Her husband was shot in the leg. She died of her wounds a year later in a hospital in Japan. Her husband was accused of signaling attackers to shoot at the couple, and was acquitted of her murder in a Japanese court.
In October 2008, Kazuyoshi Miura was brought to the United States on conspiracy charges in Miura's murder. He hanged himself while in police custody on October 11, 2008.CNN: Suspect in High-Profile Murder Case Found Dead in Cell (October 11, 2008)
