Kayla Hassell is one of six girls involved in the alleged beating of 16-year-old Victoria Lindsay on March 30, 2008. The girls participating in the assault filmed it with the intent of posting it on YouTube and MySpace, allegedly in hopes of embarrassing Lindsay. Lindsay had allegedly psted nasty comments on her MySpace page about several of the girls.
While the six girls allegedly beat Lindsay two boys, Zachary Ashley, 17, and Stephen Schumaker, 18, waited outside of the house to keep an eye out.
As of April 12, 2008, Kayla Hassell had been released from jail on $30,000 bail. According to the conditions of her release, she may not contact any of the participants in the attack, she may not go to the grounds of Mulberry High School or the restaurant where Lindsay works, and she may not use the Internet.
