Known for her louder performances, Perry surprised by signing an understated version of her son "Just Like the Moves" while being lifted from the ceiling by a cloth swing.

When she was lowered, Perry went into her single "Teenage Dream," dedicating the song to all of the Valentine lovers. She was joined on stage by red-clad dancers and giant hearts. "Teenage Dream" was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

This marked Perry's second Grammy Award performance in a row. She previously took the stage at the 52nd Grammy Awards ceremony. Perry performed her hit single "I Kissed a Girl," which received a nomination for "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance."

Katheryn Hudson, Perry is the daughter of two devout Christian ministers from Santa Barbara California. She told MTV that the only thing she had on her menu was gospel standards like Amazing Grace. As a teen, she took singing lessons and traveled to Nashville to sing.
