  • Kathryn Winkfein was pulled over in Austin, Texas by Travis County Constable Deputy Chris Bieze for speeding on May 11, 2009. The 72-year-old great-grandmother was allegedly driving 60 mph in a 45 mph speed zone.

    When Winkfein refused to sign the speeding ticket and became "confrontational". After Deputy Bieze warned her several times, he used a Taser on her.   • Background

    Kathryn Winkfein was stopped for allegedly speeding at just after 2 p.m. on May 11, 2009. The 72-year-old woman was driving along Highway 71 in Texas when she was stopped by Deputy Chris Bieze. After Winkfein refused to sign the traffic ticket, Bieze asked her to step out of the car. The incident became heated as Winkfein used profanity and Bieze shoved her. According to Bieze, he shoved her to get them both off the highway and out of the way of on-coming traffic.

    As the altercation continued, the officer warned the great-grandmother that she was in danger of being tasered. Bieze did eventually use the taser on her and Winkfein was arrested and taken to jail.
