Katherine Jackson

Katherine Jackson is the mother of the late Michael Jackson and the Jackson family musical group, as well as daughter and singer Janet Jackson.

Kattie B. Screws, aka Katherine Esther Jackson, was born on May 4, 1930, in Alabama, to Martha Upshaw and Prince Albert Scruse. She was raised in Gary, Indiana, and met and married Joseph Jackson in 1949.

Jackson's mother filed for guardianship of her three grandchildren, and was granted temporary custody. Following the hearing on August 3, 2009, she was granted custody of the children. In April of 2010, it was reported Jackson has asked her ex-daughter-in-law, Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza to move out of the house along with four of her grandchildren, and gave them only one week to do so. According to OK Magazine, Jaafar, Jermajesty, Donte, Randy Jr. and Alejandra will move to a condominium in the San Fernando Valley. Joe Jackson accused Katherine Jackson of lacking in the parental department, as far as Michael Jackson was concerned. He told her to confront Jackson regarding his failing physical condition, which she refused to do. The book sales may not help Katherine too much financially due to a lawsuit that took place in 1994. Katherine, Joe and Jermaine were given an advance of $5.5 million for a Jackson family concert series that was never honored by a South Korean newspaper, Segye Times. The newspaper won a court judgment of $4 million, which has now grown to over $13 million with interest. The L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services paid a visit to Katherine Jackson's home in early March 2010, after hearing that a stun gun was delivered there. The gun had been ordered by Jermaine Jackson's 13-year-old son Jaafar, who allegedly planned on using it on his cousin Prince Michael II, aka Blanket. The family stated that security officers, hired to guard the home, confiscated the gun after it was delivered, but sources close to the family state that the children had been playing with the gun for three days before they were caught with it.
