American actress Katherine Heigl plays the role as Dr. Isobel "Izzie" Stevens on the hit television show Grey's Anatomy for which she won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2007.
E! News reported in March 2009 that Heigl's Grey's Anatomy character, Izzie Stevens, will be diagnosed with a form of brain cancer in an upcoming episode. In February 2009, co-star James Pickens, Jr. stated that Heigl would be leaving the season along with castmate T.R. Heigl plays Dr. Izziel Stevens on the ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy. Isobel aka Izzie grew up in a trailer park in Chehalis, Washington. She gave birth to a daughter before she left high school. Heigl is one of the few actresses who made the transition from small screen to the big screen. During a hiatus from Grey's Heigl appeared in the Judd Apatow comedy Knocked Up for which she gained critical acclaim and the film was a box office success.
