In
September 2006,
Maine resident Kampf told her parents she was six months
pregnant. Her parents allegedly tied her up and deposited her in their
Lexus. They allegedly intended to drive to
New York in order to procure an
abortion. Kampf escaped the car in
Salem,
New Hampshire where she contacted police. Her parents were charged with
kidnapping. They had a .22 caliber
rifle,
duct tape and
rope in their
car. According to police, Kampf's parents wanted her to get an abortion because her boyfriend was in
jail. Kampf later said it was because her boyfriend was black. Her parents were given no jail time; the
judge dropped all felony charges.
