Karen Zerby

Karen Zerby is the current leader of The Family InternationalKaren Zerby - Official website (also called The Family), a religious movement formerly known as the Children of God. The Family is a Christian group founded in California in 1968 by David Berg.

Zerby's son, Ricky Rodriguez, murdered Zerby's former personal assistant Angela Smith in 2005. Smith had been his childhood nanny, and Rodriguez reportedly intended to kill Zerby as well; instead he killed himself. Rodriguez claimed that he had been repeatedly sexually abused as a child and some former members of The Family International alleged that Zerby had sexual intercourse with Rodriguez when he was 11 years old.
