Brief Background

Karan Johar was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra on May 25, 1972. His father was Yash Johar, a noted Bollywood film producer. Karan Johar went to high school at Greenlawns High School and then attended H.R. College in Mumbai.

Johar's debut as a director, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, was a major success and he won numerous Filmfare Awards. The movie features Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukherjee. He also directed Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Currently, he is filming for "My Name Is Khan."
