John Kanzius
John Kanzius was devastated by the effects of chemotherapy on other patients, especially children, and wanted to find a form of treatment with no side-effects.In October, 2003, in the middle of the night, Kanzius was struck with the idea of killing cancer cells using radio waves. He began the construction of the Kanzius Machine using radio parts and his wife's frying pans.
The Kanzius Machine basically uses radio waves that heat specific metals. Tiny bits of the metal are placed into the cancer patient and the radio waves are attracted to the metal, only targeting the cancerous cells, rapidly heating and killing them, leaving the healthy cells unaffected.
Kanzius told 60 Minutes he hopes to live long enough to see the machine cure humans.
