Kansas Jayhawks Mens Basketball

The University of Kansas Jayhawks basketball team plays in the Big 12 conference in the NCAA. The team is currently coached by Bill Self.

Kansas has a rich history in college basketball, having won 53 regular-season conference championships and 24 tournament championships.http://www.kuathletics.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/mbb-kan-history.html They have appeared 39 times in the NCAA tournament and twice in the NIT. They have also appeared in 13 final fours. The are the 2010 champions of the Big 12 and were the midwest region #1 seed during the 2010 NCAA tournament. However, were on the losing end of the biggest upset when Northern Iowa Panthers took them out in the 2nd round of the tournament. During better times at the 2008 NCAA tournament, The Jayhawks defeated the Memphis Tigers to win the tournament. Two of their stars from that season -- Mario Chalmers and Durrell Arthur -- are now playing in the NBA.

2009-10 season

During the 2009-10 regular season, the Jayhawks finished with a record of 32-2, including a perfect 18-0 at home.http://www.kuathletics.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/2009-2010/teamcume.html The team was 15-1 in conference play, and 17-1 in non-conference play.

The team played its first 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament game on March 18 against Lehigh University, and they advanced to the second round. However, the were stunned by Northern Iowa 69-67, ending their tournament run.
