Overview
Kama Sutra is divided into seven parts and outlines philosophies of sex, love, knowledge, prostitution and marriage. It is believed that the first transmission comes from Nandi, a sacred bull and guardian to Shiva. After he overheard Shiva and his wife, Parvati, making love he recorded the utterance in order to pass along to humans. The Kama Sutra stresses the spiritual side of lovemaking as it plays an essential role in the quality and enjoyability of a sexual encounter.
