Juwan Howard is a power forward/center for the Portland Trailblazers of the National Basketball Association. He was born February 7, 1973 in Chicago, llinois and attended Michigan University. While at Michigan, Howard teamed up with Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson to form the fab-5. This group led Michigan to back to back NCAA title games in 1992, and 1993 which they lost. The University later had to forfeit the games these teams won and more due to NCAA sanctions.
Howard was drafted by the Washington Bullets as the fifth pick in the 1994 NBA draft, leaving Michigan after three seasons. Howard was named to the all-rookie team after averaging 17 points and eight rebounds a game for the Bullets. Next season, Howard was named to his only all star game after increasing his scoring to 22 points a game. Howard acheived a feat, only one other Washington player ever did, score 40 points in back to back games, in 1996. After this, Howard signed a seven year deal with the Bullets worth 105 million. Four seasons later he was traded to Dallas, beginning a journeyman run, which has included stops in Denver, Orlando, Houston, Dallas and Denver again, Charlotte and now Portland.
Howard had a small role in The West Wing, appearing in the episode "The Crackpots and These Women" as a former college basketball player.
