Justine Bateman is currently on the board of the Screens Actors Guild after an extended career in the television and film industry. Her first large roles was of Mallory Keaton on the NBC series Family Ties. The show aired from 1982 to 1989 and was one of the most noted situation comedies of it's time. Bateman's character was that of the middle child, a ditzy teenager. This became a stereotype that she had to work hard to break away from. For that role she received two Emmy Award nominations for best supporting actress.

Her Own Family Ties
Beteman is the daughter of Kent and Victoria Bateman. Her father is an acting coach and her mother is a flight attendant. She is the sister of another well-known actor Jason Bateman. She has appeared on FOX's show Arrested Development in which Jason starred. She remains close with her on-screen brother Michael J. Fox who is battling Parkinson's Disease. She was married to Mark Fluent in 2001, they have 2 children together named Duke and Olivia.
Recent Appearances
Bateman has been seen recently on shows such as ABC's Men In Trees in which she played the role of Lynn Barstow in over ten episodes. She was also seen on Desperate Housewives which also stars Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman.
Life Beyond Acting
In 1996 Bateman revealed that she has suffered with bulimia and anorexia and has since overcame the disease using a twelve step program as well as her belief in Christianity. She recently launched her own line of knit fashions called Justine Bateman Designs.
