Drafted Siblings
Few players have generated more excitement on being promoted to the Major Leagues than Justin Upton. Upton's older brother, B.J., drafted second overall in 2002 is an up and coming superstar on the Tampa Bay Rays, and the two made history by being the most highly drafted siblings in the history of the game. In fact, Justin was drafted even higher than his older brother, having been chosen as the first overall pick in the 2005 draft.
Young Career
Upton made his major league debut in August 2007, and was impressive in 43 games, finishing the season with a .283 batting average. He was named Minor League Player of the Year at the end of the 2007 season, and in spring training, Upton so impressed the Diamondbacks management that he won the starting right field job. Upton immediately began swinging the bat with a bang in the young season. The youngest player in the major leagues in both 2007 and 2008, by mid-May of 2008, Upton was hitting .331, with 6 home runs and 19 RBIs.
