Just Cause 2 is a sequel to the blockbuster hit Just Cause which was released on September 27, 2006. It was developed by Sweden based Avalanche Studios and Eidos Interactive being published by Square Enix. Eidos Interactive is no stranger to the Action-Adventure genre. In the past they have been responsible for one of the most profitable and entertaining franchises, including Tomb Raider which also spun various movies starring Angelina Jolie. Tomb Raider is not also to their credit. The Hitman series, Fear Effect, and Thief series of games are also under their belt and have had moderate if not outstanding success. Eidos Interactive creates some of very engaging games in addition to some of that quite challenging as far as difficulty is concerned.
Just Cause 2 is a Modern Action Adventure game rated M (Mature), and will be available on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms. The action takes place in Panau, an exotic but corrupted island, where agent Rico Rodriguez is trying to find Tom Sheldon, his former commander and friend. Gameplay
Just Cause 2 features the same open ended gameplay which is what makes it such a stellar title. In addition the games engine has been completely overhauled. The game is now using Avalanche Engine 2.0 instead of Avalanche Engine like the previous episode. The graphics and game controls have been improved as well. In the spirit of other open ended games like Grand Theft Auto IV and Saints Row, the endless gameplay and the ability to move around your environment makes the game even more appeasing. The AI has also been improved, and now the enemies are taking advantages using the terrain. They hide behind objects and they adapt quickly to any situation. The fictional island of Panau is similar to Hawaii, and the player will have the chance to use different vehicles available on it, including a Boeing 737. New weapons have also been added to the game and using the black market the player can buy upgrades for each of them.
