Jurassic Park is a sci-fi adventure novel by Michael Crichton which was published in 1990. The book is about an exclusive amusement park that has been genetically engineering dinosaurs. Things go awry at the park, and the dinosaurs begin attacking their makers.
The book was adapted into a film by Steven Spielberg in 1993, which was a smash success at the box office. Crichton wrote a 1995 sequel to the book, entitled The Lost World, which was also adapted by Spielberg.
Plot Synopsis
Eccentric billionaire John Hammond figures out a way to genetically reproduce dinosaurs using the blood from ancient mosquitos and frog DNA, and plans to show them off at an exclusive amusement park he builds called Jurassic Park. Before the opening of the park, he invites three renowned scientists, Paleontologist Alan Grant, Paleobotonist Ellie Sattler, and math theorist Ian Malcolm, to his island for approval.
Ian Malcom is immediately skeptical because he knows that, due to Chaos Theory, something will inevitably go wrong. And things do go wrong. Because of the frog DNA, the dinos unexpectedly begin changing sexes and reproducing. Also, one of the software engineers named Dennis Nedry sabotages the security system and as a result, the dinos break loose and begin to attack.
